Emily began dancing at age 3 with Virginia Tanner in Salt Lake City, Utah. By age 5 her lifelong passion of ballet was ignited, and she began her ballet training with Miki Casalino at Casalino's School of Creative Arts. Through Miki's mentoring and teaching Emily's love of ballet turned into a dream of becoming a professional ballerina! After graduating from Casalino's School of Creative Arts at age 15, she continued her training at The School of Ballet West until she graduated high school. She then decided to work toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance at the University of Utah where she received the William F. Christensen scholarship.
Besides her passion for classical ballet, Emily always dreamed of being a wife and mother. So, after 3 1/2 years at the University of Utah when an amazing young man swept her off her feet, the course of that life changed forever! Since family has always been the most important thing in Emily's life, she made the decision to focus on teaching rather than dancing professionally. This decision gave her the opportunity to have both the ballet she loved and the family she had always dreamed of! At that time Emily had no idea how passionate she could become about teaching!
Emily has been teaching for more than 30 years now and has enjoyed every minute. Sharing the beautiful art with her students has brought so much joy into her life! Nothing touches Emily quite the same as watching her students grow into the amazing, confident, beautiful people that they become. She is grateful every day for the opportunity to be a part of each of her students' lives in some small way.
